Shipping from Nepal — frequently asked questions

Most air cargo shipments from Kathmandu reach Europe, the USA or Australia within about 5–7 days including customs clearance, depending on the airline and destination.

Air cargo is faster and better for smaller or urgent shipments. Sea cargo, trucked to Kolkata port and shipped from there, is much cheaper per kilo for large or heavy shipments but takes several weeks.

Airlines charge by chargeable weight — the higher of the actual weight and the volume weight of your cartons. Send us the number of cartons, their sizes and weight and we will quote you.

Express courier is best for small, urgent parcels and samples, air cargo for most commercial shipments, and sea cargo for large or heavy orders where price matters more than speed. Tell us what you are sending and we will recommend the best option.

Handicrafts, pashmina and woollens, garments, statues, singing bowls, felt, hemp products, paper products and other Nepali goods. We do not accept hazardous materials.

Yes. We collect your orders from manufacturers and shops, check and pack them in our Thamel warehouse, and prepare all export documents.

We use light but strong materials and pack to save weight and volume, so you are not paying to ship unnecessary kilos.

Yes. As an optional add-on we inspect your goods before packing — quantities, sizes, colours, finishing and defects — and send you photos. Any problems are sorted out with the maker in Kathmandu before the cargo leaves Nepal. The price is quoted separately from shipping.

Yes. We collect from all your makers and shops around Kathmandu, store everything in our Thamel warehouse and ship it together in one consignment.

Yes. We prepare export documentation, handle customs clearance in Nepal, and arrange archaeology clearance certificates for statues and antique-style items where required.

Import duties and taxes at the destination are normally paid by the receiver. We can advise you on the documents needed for your country.

Nepal has no sea port, so sea cargo is trucked to Kolkata port in India and shipped from there.

Enter your tracking number or air waybill (AWB) number on our Track page. It works with DHL, FedEx, UPS, Aramex, DPD, SF Express and 1,000+ other carriers, plus air cargo AWB numbers.

New shipments can take 24–48 hours to appear in the carrier's system. Check that you entered the number exactly as it appears on your receipt, or try the carrier's own website.
